# Connect ScoreCat

> Link your meet to ScoreCat and start sending scores as they are entered.

You want your scores showing up on ScoreCat's scoreboard while the meet runs. Here is how to hook the two together.

## Before you start

* You are an admin on the meet in Gym Art Meets.
* You have a ScoreCat account. Either the email and password you sign in to the ScoreCat event dashboard with, or an API key and a ScoreCat meet ID that ScoreCat gave you.
* Your gymnasts are on the roster. A gymnast who is not on it is left out of what gets sent.

## Step 1: Open Connectors

Open your meet, then click **Connectors** in the sidebar under **Score Exporting** (1).

![Click Connectors in the meet sidebar, under Score Exporting.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-e5feeb5e99e32175e56b566febf755649d0fbcf5%2Fscorecat-open-connectors.webp?alt=media)

The page opens on **Import & publish**. The **Next step** banner at the top always tells you what to do next.

## Step 2: Fill in your event details

ScoreCat refuses a meet that is missing its details, so the partner rows stay locked until every required field is filled in. Clicking **Connect** opens the event details for you.

![Fill in the venue address, click Save, then click Done.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-42204ebbd84a0c699fbe1d48a1c6d011b66eed62%2Fscorecat-event-details.webp?alt=media)

Fill in the blank fields. The ones most often missing are in **Venue address** (1): venue name, street address, city, state or province, and ZIP or postal code. Outside the United States, enter your province and postal code. Click **Save** (2), then **Done** (3).

When nothing is missing, the **Connect** button on the ScoreCat row unlocks (1) and **Your meet** reads **All set** (2).

![The ScoreCat Connect button unlocks once Your meet reads All set.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-7665aead2f06721998030f76679a9a60d1b317f4%2Fscorecat-partner-list.webp?alt=media)

## Step 3: Connect ScoreCat

Click **Connect** on the ScoreCat row. The **Connect ScoreCat** dialog opens. Pick one of the two ways in.

**If the meet does not exist on ScoreCat yet**, the dialog is already set up for you. Fill in:

* **ScoreCat login email** (1)
* **ScoreCat password** (2)

Click **Create & connect** (4). Gym Art creates the meet on ScoreCat for you and links it in one step. You get "ScoreCat meet created and connected."

![Enter your ScoreCat login, then click Create & connect. Use the link to enter an existing meet instead.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-7667e3e29796b392a3e2ca98a93a20da85219094%2Fscorecat-connect-login.webp?alt=media)

Your login is used once, to create the meet. Gym Art stores only the encrypted connection for this meet. Unlike MeetScoresOnline, ScoreCat takes a meet fielding more than one discipline, so a combined WAG and MAG meet is fine here.

Creating the meet is one-shot. A second click is refused, and Gym Art cannot rename the meet on ScoreCat afterwards. To delete it, use **Disconnect** below.

**If ScoreCat already set up your meet**, click **Already have a meet on ScoreCat? Enter its details** (3). Fill in:

* **API key** (1). The key from your ScoreCat account.
* **ScoreCat meet ID** (2). The meet on ScoreCat's side that your scores should land in.

Click **Connect** (3). You get "Connected to ScoreCat."

![Enter the API key and the ScoreCat meet ID, then click Connect.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3605173baa4c90a0784e70ef807df37075a7419a%2Fscorecat-connect-details.webp?alt=media)

## Step 4: Check it took

The ScoreCat row now reads **Connected** (1). Click the ScoreCat name to open the row. It shows:

* **Meet ID** (2). The meet on ScoreCat that yours is tied to. A typo here is the usual reason scores land somewhere unexpected.
* **Status** (3). Reads **Not published** until the first send, then **Uploaded**, or **Failed** if ScoreCat rejected it.
* **Show log**. Every send to ScoreCat, including the ones that fail.

![The ScoreCat row reads Connected and shows the meet ID and the status.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f61b59781c0c6495f8f721777e10f202922058dc%2Fscorecat-connected.webp?alt=media)

## Step 5: Turn on live publishing

Turn on the **Live publishing** switch (1). It sends scores to your connected partners as they are entered. Nothing goes out while it is off.

![Turn on Live publishing. Press Finalize meet when the whole meet is over.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-e741c6d21bda539db143dd3c84e7e4636795392d%2Fscorecat-live-publishing.webp?alt=media)

Once a judge submits a score, **Status** should reach **Uploaded** within about a minute. If it says **Failed**, the credentials or the meet ID are usually the cause. Disconnect, then connect again with the right details.

## What happens now

Scores go out on their own for as long as the meet runs. Each send carries the apparatus scores entered so far, the all-around, the placements those scores work out to, and your club team standings. Every live send is flagged provisional, so ScoreCat shows it as in progress.

If you uploaded a cover image for your meet, it becomes the meet's logo on ScoreCat when you connect, and again each time you change the cover. The default cover Gym Art picks for a new meet is never sent. The image must be a PNG, JPEG or WebP of 5 MB or less. A landscape image of about 1000 by 700 pixels works best.

When a session's last timeline section has passed, that session's results go to ScoreCat marked official on their own. Sessions still competing stay provisional.

When the **whole meet** is done and its scores are verified, turn **Live publishing** off, then press **Finalize meet** (2). That marks the results of the whole meet official, and it picks up any score corrected since the last live send. If Live publishing stays on, the next score entered sends the provisional version again.

ScoreCat identifies a session by its name. If you rename a session, the next send lands under the new name, and the old one stays on ScoreCat. To remove it, ask ScoreCat.

## Control what goes out

![Resend everything is at the top of the page. Pause and Disconnect are in the ScoreCat row menu.](https://1209873234-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvxSekmgChR3geqn14bPG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ddef54a0ebd3c6d6596c7cc1f14f352bf9a9b800%2Fscorecat-options.webp?alt=media)

* **Resend everything** (1) sends the whole meet again to every connected partner, but only while **Live publishing** is on. With it off, nothing is sent. To send a fix after you finalized, press **Finalize meet** again instead.
* **Pause** (2), in the menu on the ScoreCat row, stops sending to ScoreCat. What is already on their side stays. Other partners keep publishing. **Resume** starts again, with the current scores rather than a backlog.
* **Disconnect** (3), in the same menu, asks for the ScoreCat email and password that requested the key. Click **Check what gets deleted** to see what ScoreCat will remove, then **Delete on ScoreCat** to delete the meet and everything under it. Athlete profiles stay on ScoreCat. The key is closed afterwards, so connect again with a new key to publish. If ScoreCat says a delete is already running, try again in two minutes. **Disconnect only** forgets the connection and leaves the meet on ScoreCat.

To stop every partner at once, turn the **Live publishing** switch off instead.
