πŸ†Competition types

Learn how competition types enable multi-day competitions, finals management, and advanced scoring structures in GymArt Meets.

Overview

Competition types provide the foundation for creating sophisticated multi-day competitions and finals structures. By assigning different competition types to age groups, you can create complex meet formats with separate scoring and ranking for each competition phase.

Competition Type Implementation

Session Integration

When you assign a competition type to an age group:

  • Session Compatibility - The age group can only be assigned to sessions that match its competition type

  • Judge Scoring - Judges enter scores specifically for the selected competition format

  • Ranking Separation - Each competition type maintains separate rankings

Technical Workflow

Age Group β†’ Competition Type β†’ Session Assignment:

  1. Age group is created with a specific competition type

  2. You can assign each competition type to separate sessions

  3. Judges score gymnasts in each competition type separately

Advanced Competition Structures

Finals Management

Finals Management: Detailed finals implementation and team/individual finals configuration is coming soon. This will include qualification-to-finals workflows and advanced advancement criteria.

Current Support:

  • Team Finals Setup - Use "Qualification to Team Final" for team qualification rounds

  • Individual Finals - "All Around Final", "Apparatus Final", and "Individual Final" types available

Multi-Day Competition Management

GymArt Meets provides comprehensive support for multi-day competitions through the qualification system:

Qualification Types:

  • Qualification - Primary competition format (Day 1 equivalent)

  • Qualification 2 - Secondary qualification round (Day 2 equivalent)

Ranking and Export Options:

  • Day 1 Rankings - Separate standings for first day performance

  • Day 2 Rankings - Separate standings for second day performance

  • Combined Day Export - Overall two-day combined results for the complete event

Flexible Setup Options: Each competition day can have completely different configurations:

Subdivision Flexibility:

  • Different subdivision assignments per competition type

  • Age groups can be split differently across days

  • Session assignments can vary between qualification rounds

Example: Two-Day Competition Setup:

  • Day 1 (Qualification): Age groups assigned to Session A with specific subdivision setup

  • Day 2 (Qualification 2): Same age groups assigned to Session B with different subdivision arrangement

Session Assignment Strategy:

  • Qualification sessions can use different subdivision groupings

  • Same age group can participate in both days with different organizational setups

  • Independent management - Each qualification round operates independently for maximum flexibility

Multi-Day Competition Implementation

Practical Implementation:

Day-by-Day Setup:

  1. Create age groups with "Qualification" for Day 1

  2. Create matching age groups with "Qualification 2" for Day 2

  3. Set up separate sessions for each qualification round

  4. Assign age groups to appropriate sessions based on competition type

Operational Flexibility:

  • Independent subdivision setup - Each day can have different gymnast groupings

  • Session variation - Same age group can use different subdivision arrangements per day

  • Scoring independence - Day 1 and Day 2 operate as separate competition events

Export Capabilities:

  • Individual day rankings for each qualification round

  • Combined results export showing overall two-day performance

  • Separate advancement tracking for multi-day progression

Competition Type Best Practices

Planning Complex Meets

Pre-Competition Setup:

  1. Define Competition Phases - Determine how many days/phases your meet needs

  2. Age Group Strategy - Decide which age groups participate in which phases

  3. Session Structure - Create sessions that match your competition types

  4. Advancement Rules - Set clear criteria for advancing to finals

Operational Considerations

During Competition:

  • Session Management - Ensure age groups are only assigned to compatible sessions

  • Judge Coordination - Communicate which competition type each session represents

  • Results Management - Monitor rankings for each competition type separately

Post-Competition:

  • Finals Preparation - Use qualification results to determine finals participants

  • Awards Organization - Separate ceremonies for each competition type

  • Results Publication - Provide complete results for all competition phases

This system provides the flexibility to create professional-level gymnastics competitions with multiple qualification rounds, team finals, and individual finals while maintaining clear organization and separate scoring for each competition phase.
