πSubdivisions
Learn how to create and manage subdivisions within age groups for advanced session organization and gymnast grouping.
Overview
Subdivisions provide an additional layer of organization within age groups, allowing you to further divide gymnasts into smaller, more manageable groups. This is particularly useful for large age groups that need to be split across multiple competition sessions or when you need more granular control over gymnast assignments.
Subdivision Functionality
Purpose and Application
Subdivisions work in conjunction with the competition types you specify in the Age Groups tab:
Competition-Specific - Each subdivision is created for a specific competition type within an age group
Session Assignment - Different subdivisions can be assigned to different sessions
Flexible Grouping - Subdivisions can be combined in the same session or separated across multiple sessions
Session Management
Individual Session Assignment:
Subdivision 1 β Session A (Morning)
Subdivision 2 β Session B (Afternoon)
Combined Session Assignment:
Both Subdivision 1 and Subdivision 2 β Same Session (Full Day)
Creating Subdivisions
Step-by-Step Process
Select Competition Type - Use the dropdown menu to choose which competition you want to create subdivisions for
Add Subdivision - Click the "+" (Add) button located beside the subdivisions list
View Gymnast List - The subdivision will appear in the list, and you'll see the gymnasts currently assigned to it
Moving Gymnasts Between Subdivisions
Selection and Movement Process:
Select Gymnasts - Select the gymnasts you want to move from the current subdivision by clicking the checkbox beside their name
Click Move Button - Use the Move button located beside the Add button
Choose Destination - Select which subdivision to move the gymnasts to
Automatic Recalculation:
Session Updates - The system automatically recalculates session assignments
Real-time Changes - Subdivision compositions update immediately
Important Movement Warning
Session Removal Warning: If you move gymnasts from one subdivision to another, and the original subdivision has been assigned to a session, those gymnasts will be automatically removed from any sessions they were previously assigned to. You will need to manually re-add them to the appropriate sessions if required.
Deleting Subdivisions
Deletion Process
Simple Deletion:
Locate Subdivision - Find the subdivision chip in the subdivisions list
Click Delete Button - Click the delete (Γ) button on the subdivision chip
Automatic Cleanup - The system handles the deletion process
Automatic Gymnast Reassignment
When a subdivision is deleted:
Gymnast Movement - All gymnasts from the deleted subdivision are automatically moved back to Subdivision 1
Session Removal - The deleted subdivision is removed from any sessions it was assigned to
Manual Reassignment Required - If Subdivision 1 is assigned to a session, you'll need to manually add the returned gymnasts to that session
Session Impact
Post-Deletion Actions:
Check Subdivision 1 - Verify if Subdivision 1 is assigned to any sessions
Re-add Gymnasts - If Subdivision 1 has session assignments, manually add the returned gymnasts to those sessions
Update Session Capacity - Adjust session capacities as needed after gymnast redistribution
Subdivision Best Practices
Planning Subdivision Structure
Considerations Before Creating:
Session Availability - How many sessions are available for this age group?
Gymnast Distribution - How many gymnasts per subdivision for balanced sessions?
Competition Format - Does the competition type require multiple subdivisions?
Operational Efficiency
Recommended Workflow:
Plan session structure before creating subdivisions
Create subdivisions based on available sessions
Assign subdivisions to sessions in the Sessions tab
Monitor gymnast distribution and adjust as needed
Use move/delete functions sparingly to avoid session disruption
This subdivision system provides the flexibility to handle complex meet structures while maintaining organized gymnast management and session assignments.
