# Meet setup

> How to create and configure a meet in Gym Art Meets if you're coming from KSIS.

**Prerequisites:** You have a Gym Art Meets account and have [created a club](https://docs.gymart.org/club-management/create-a-club).

## In KSIS

In KSIS, you create a meet through the Meet Director portal, fill in event details (name, dates, venue, sanctioning body), choose which competitions/levels will be offered, set entry fees, and optionally clone from a previous meet template.

## In Gym Art Meets

The same workflow in Gym Art Meets follows these steps:

### 1. Create the Meet

Go to your club dashboard and create a new meet. You'll set the **meet name**, **dates**, **venue/address**, and **discipline** (WAG, MAG, etc.).

→ See [How to create a meet](https://docs.gymart.org/meet-setup/create-a-meet)

### 2. Add Levels (Replaces "Competitions" in KSIS)

Where KSIS has you define "competitions" (e.g., Level 5 WAG Junior), Gym Art Meets separates this into **levels** and **age groups**:

* **Level** = the competition category (Level 5, Xcel Gold, etc.) with its own capacity and pricing
* **Age Group** = a birth date range within that level

Create one level for each competition category. Set the per-gymnast fee (replaces KSIS entry fees).

→ See [How to create a level](https://docs.gymart.org/levels/create-a-level)

### 3. Configure Score Settings per Level

In KSIS, score calculation rules are set at the competition level. In Gym Art Meets, they're set on the **level** and inherited by all competitions within it:

* **Individual score settings** - tiebreakers, vault decision, rank method, initial execution trimming
* **Team score settings** - team size, count-from/count-toward, selection method

→ See [Individual score settings](https://docs.gymart.org/levels/individual-score-settings) and [Team score settings](https://docs.gymart.org/levels/team-score-settings)

### 4. Create Age Groups and Subdivisions

In KSIS, "categories" define age groupings and "divisions" handle scheduling sub-groups. In Gym Art Meets:

* **Age groups** group gymnasts by birth date range
* **Subdivisions** split a competition for scheduling and optionally for awards

→ See [Create age groups](https://docs.gymart.org/competitions/create-age-groups) and [Create subdivisions](https://docs.gymart.org/competitions/create-subdivisions)

### 5. Set Registration Settings

Configure when registration opens and closes, capacity limits, and payment settings. This replaces the KSIS registration management section.

→ See [Set registration settings](https://docs.gymart.org/meet-setup/set-registration-settings)

## Key Differences

| Aspect | KSIS | Gym Art Meets |
| ----------------------- | --------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Meet templates | Clone from template library | Clone from any existing meet |
| Sanctioning | Built-in GO sanctioning workflow | Not applicable |
| Level + age in one step | Competition = level + category together | Level created first, age groups added separately |
| Pricing | Per-competition fees | Per-level fees |

## What's Next?

Once your meet is configured, set up [scheduling and judges](https://docs.gymart.org/migration/ksis-index/scheduling-and-judges).
