What are break rotations?
A break rotation is a rotation without apparatus, which means no one is competing or being judged when on break. Adding such a break allows for smaller rotation sizes and more athletes in the session.
Break rotations are used in the case that there are too many athletes to fit in the current rotations, and it is not worth it to create a new session for the excess athletes.
For example, if you had 25 athletes and four rotations instead of creating groups of 7, 6, 6, 6, you can add a break rotation and have five groups of 5.
You can add as many breaks as you want, but in general, being parsimonious concerning rotation count is recommended.
The rotation-assignment tool will add athletes to break rotations
To add a break rotation to the list of rotations, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Rotations page of the session
Click the "+ Break Rotation" button
Select which apparatus (rotation) you want to add your new rotation after
Select Break Rotation as the 'Apparatus to add'
Click "Add" and the rotation will appear in the rotation list at the designated position
To remove a break rotation you've added, click on the Delete button in the top right corner of the break rotation's tile.
Remove a break rotation with athletes in it will require you to re-assign the athletes
