Learn how to create and modify a session's timeline

Overview

Each session has a timeline that allows you, the organizer, to communicate what's going on in this session and when. A typical session timeline will have an arrival, warmup, competition, and awards section. Furthermore, the length of the warmup and competition sections are typically based on the estimated longest rotation time.

A session's timeline and rotations are not linked. A timeline is used for communication purposes and should outline the key events during a session.

In this guide, we cover:

What are the timeline sections?

Sections are slots of time that allow you to specify what's supposed to be going on in the venue. Of course, the reality is messy and ultimately the sections are suggestive. For each section, you can specify the name, start and end time, and additional notes.

When creating your session you can select from different timeline templates. These templates come with a few different sections premade to help you speed up the organizing time. The current templates are:

  1. Warmup compete

  2. Open warmup

Modifying the timeline

You can modify the session's timeline either from the tile in the Schedules page or from the Timeline & Settings page of the session's dashboard. Both interfaces display the same information and layout.

Every session needs at least one section as the session derives its start and end time as well as the duration from the timeline

Adding a section

To add a new section to the timeline, click the + button in the top left of the timeline's table.

Sections in a timeline can have overlapping times

Modifying a section

You can change the name, start and end times, and notes of any section by clicking the Edit button to the left of the section. After making modifications, click the Checkmark button to save your changes.

Delete a section

Delete a section by using the Delete button in the section's row.

Shifting the entire timeline

You can also easily shift all the timeline sections in a session by using the Clock icon on the session's tile. If you wanted, for example, to move all the sections forward by 30 minutes, you would select 30 minutes after the current session's starting time, and all sections would be shifted.
